Will this radio run from the mains supply when charging or if the battery fails?

Whilst connected to the mains power supply, the radio will operate from mains power. The battery will take longer to charge if the radio is on whilst the battery is charging. You can continue to listen to the radio on mains power whatever state of charge the battery is in.
