At moment I am having trouble with fm reception with my stereo. Will the highway still work okay. Have very faint reception and no af comes up but am works fine
Chris says:
The Highway receives DAB stations, which are a separate broadcast to FM. It also transmits audio to your in-car radio using any FM frequency. Whether the FM transmission from the Highway is received by your radio will depend on the cause of your current reception problem.

Hi, I am very serious at purchasing the Pure digital car radio, as I travel frequently between Liverpool and Derbyshire, but I loose my favourite radio stations by the time I get to Stockport, which is very frustrating! I like listening to Radio City 96.7 and Juice FM and was hoping that I would still be able to recieve them in Chesterfield with this digital radio? Hope You can answer my question, Many thanks, Mark.
Chris says:
DAB Radio is broadcast locally, in the same way as FM, though some local stations are available further afield than the FM transmission on DAB. You can see what stations you can pick up using an online postcode checker like the one at http://www.getdigitalradio.com/about-digital-radio to check locations along your journey.

Not as far as we are aware. You could contact them to request the feature at support@pure.com

Mike Harwood asks: (2008-10-04 18:26:43)
I have a Ford Focus with heated windscreen. Will the elements in the windscreen affect the aerial's reception?
Chris says:
The windscreen should not affect reception, however the heat may cause problems with the glue. As it is designed as a one-use aerial (spares are available from Pure) this may not matter, assuming you are leaving it fitted in place. There are sometimes gaps in the heating elements at the top or bottom of the screen, which may allow a suitable fixing location.

Anne Rudduck Jones asks: (2008-08-14 22:36:28)
Exactly how do i connect my i-pod to the Highway (is the connector supplied) and if I want to use my Highway as a personal DAB radio what do I do about the "fragile" and hard to reposition aerial please?
Chris says:
To connect a portable music player to the highway, you will need a 3.5mm jack - jack cable. This is not icluded, but can be purchased from our site HERE if you do not have one.
The supplied car-miounted aerial is only used when the radio is being used in the car. When used as a portable device, the headphone cable is used as the aerial, as is common with the majority of personal radios. See the Full Details tab for full technical information.
Pure have the user manual for the product on their website if you would klike to learn more about how to use the radio. (CLICK HERE)

Simon asks: (2008-08-13 16:36:38)
At the moment I am unable to play my ipod through my car stereo. How is it that you can play an ipod through the Highway, and how does this actually work? Do you have to connect your ipod to the device?
Chris says:
The highway has a line input which will accept an input from any portable audio player (you can use the headphone socket or a line output if your device has one)
The Highway uses it's bult-in FM transmitter to transmit the sound from the external input (or it's own DAB radio tuner) to yuor car radio using a free FM radio chanel.

Roy asks: (2008-08-09 23:35:12)
Can you please tell me how long the arial actually is
Chris says:
You need about 20 cm of free glass surface to attach the aerial.

I drive from Warwick to Cheltenham. My car radio loses FM reception just before Evesham and this is very frustrating. If I purchased one of these gadgets, would I get a strong and clear DAB reception over my whole journey?
Chris says:
If you are unable to recieve any FM station, it is unlikely that DAB will be available either, as it works on similar frequencies. If it is just one station which you cannot recieve, DAB may help.
As we do not know the area, it is difficult to say what reception will be like. You could use the online postcode checker (click here). to check for coverage along your route.

mike r hull asks: (2008-06-17 21:48:23)
have just imported a machine fron usa and the fm radio will not tune to some radio stations if the highway was fitted would i be able to recieve all my normal stations plus others
Chris says:
The highway will let you recieve anyt stations which are broadcast on DAB. it will not help you with local FM stations, which may not be broadcast on the DAB network.

Mike asks: (2008-06-11 21:11:04)
If you need FM to enable the Highway to operate, how will the FM "switch-off" effect it?
TIA
Mike - a potential client!!
Chris says:
The transmission of FM radio stations is not related to the ability of this device to function. It has it's own built-in transmitter to send the audio signal to any radio which has an FM reciever. All car radios currently do, so there is no problem operating it in a car.
There are not currently any plans to 'switch off' analog FM radio transmitters. The digital TV switchover is not related to radio transmissions.
If FM radio transmissions were to be turned off, it would make it a lot easier to find an unused channel to operate the Highway's transmitter on, as there would be no other transmissions around to create interference. (note this is theoretical only, any changes to the FM frequencies are likely to take 5 years or more to implement, as there are currently no plans to make any alterations to the existing system.

Robert Sleigh asks: (2008-06-04 14:17:05)
Hi,
How much are spare ariels for the highway? Do they have to be stuck because I would like to be able to use it in the artic I drive at work and my car.
Chris says:
You can purchase spare aerials direct from Pure (www.pure.com)
The aerial is designed to be permanently fixed, however it could be left loose. It is fairly fragile, so we would not reccomend moving it between vehicles on a regular basis.

jockey asks: (2008-05-31 16:38:45)
i know it might sound a strange question but what range of distance can the fm receiver be from this device
Chris says:
Generally, this type of transmitter will transmit around 30m. There are other limitations, however, for example, the Transmitter only operates when connected to the in-car power supply, so in most cases, the length of the cable therefore determines the maximum distance from your car radio. Strong radio stations on similar frequencies in your area will also serve to reduce the effective range of the transmitter.

jnathan bell asks: (2008-05-29 16:34:06)
sir
will this work in a truck from the 24 volt supply?
thanks
Chris says:
The power supply will operate on 12 or 24 volt.
norman asks: (2008-05-27 09:23:06)
Will the aerial work on any windscreen
Chris says:
The aerial will operate on almost any window. Positioning will determine the amount of reception, so experiment before deciding where to stick it, as the adhesive makes it difficult to reposition once fixed.

Eddie L asks: (2008-04-14 13:52:12)
